TESTIMONIALS

Wanted to say thanks once again. United Way made their allocation decisions on Friday, and There were major changes in how they wanted grants done. Many agencies were cut –but not ours! I am happy to say once again taking your class paid off BIG TIME. Due to the things I learned in your class, my agency received $300,000. In fact, we got an increase over what we received in previous years. This was my first year writing for the agency. – Sheryl Emery

As a student in the masters of social work program at Gallaudet University, I knew I would be working in the non-profit sector. I also knew that it would be prudent for me to take a grant writing class because non-profit agencies and organization depends on grants to pursue their purposes. The grant writing class taught me a great deal about writing grants; I also learned about the different functions of grants, helpful research techniques and presentation methods. The class was well organized and the professor, Trudy Suggs, went out of her way to help her students learn the fine art of grant writing. At every turn, she offered guidance, support and direction. Grant writing is complex. Yet, Professor Suggs showed us how to simply the process into a step-by-step progression. – Melinda Doell

The grant writing class helped me hone my skills in persuasive writing and writing for an audience, and gave me more opportunities to get funds for the non-profit organization that I work for. The grant writing class provided me with the skills I needed to write an effective proposal and seek the correct funding strategies that would provide my not-for-profit organization the money it needed to succeed. – Chris Kaftan

I thoroughly enjoyed the grant writing course!! I learned the nuts and bolts of the grant writing process throughout the semester and am proud to say that I am no longer daunted by the process. I found Ms. Suggs’ teaching methodology very effective; she was very hands-on, engaging, and supportive. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who is interested in learning more about grant writing. – Martin Keller, Jr.

If you want your dream to achieve, take this course. If you want to set up an organization or seek funding, take this course. This course will bring you to the right places! I established my first deaf youth theatre camp this past summer, something wouldn’t have happened without the right tools. Thank you for making this happen! Thank you for offering me leadership! Trudy has patience and great knowledge. She helped me ace the grant writing process. – Frank Dattolo

I have had training in grant writing through workshops and materials, but the GLI course on grant writing made a difference in fully understanding and practicing the challenges of the actual grant writing process. You didn’t just learn about it, you actually wrote the different sections of a practice (or real!) grant to understand the expectations and the resources necessary during the writing process. – Glenna Ashton

This class is a must-take for emerging and current leaders! Ms. Suggs’ excellent teaching style and wealth of experience has taken out the intimidation in grant writing. This class is far better than any short, condensed workshops on grant-writing I’ve taken in the past. The hands-on approach, the honest and helpful feedback, the work on parts of the grant writing process every week, the class discussions via chatroom, and the writing of an actual grant for final project have all promoted excellent learning and confidence-building opportunities. To this day, I am still remembering valuable tips Ms. Suggs imparted and I look forward to applying them in writing a grant in the near future. I recommend this class highly to anyone in the non-profit field. Thanks Trudy for sharing your great experiences and knowledge with us! – Jamie Pope
